I hit the 200 follower mark!
Thank you so much everyone. I NEVER imagined that so many people would follow my blog. It truly means so much to me! Hope everyone is doing well with their studies and care plans! It’s midterm week for me so I’ve been living in the library for the past few days. I’ll post more after my week is over and my Spring Break starts! :)

Had a dream about Clinical last night.
I dreamed that I walked into Clinical but instead of getting a normal patient, my instructor told me that I was to be working on a very secret case. She led me to a very old part of the hospital that was behind a secret door. The door led up many stairs and eventually I reached the top floor which was covered by old wooden beds and nurses in early 1900 uniforms. There was no electricity, no...

Clinical Day: 6
Today the patient I was given refused care so instead I went around the floor and helped various others with whatever tasks they needed. I performed a few accu checks, administered some insulin, cleaned a patient, watched a dressing change be performed on a patient who had received a hysterectomy, drained a JP drain, watched an IV be hooked up, made some beds, took vitals and then practiced...

Anonymous asked: How long have you been studying nursing for? I am in my final 3months at the moment :)
Anonymous asked: You're right about confidentiality being important, and I think its awesome that you addressed the issue and committed yourself to making sure that you didn't harm a single patient by infringing on their rights. You are doing a good job, keep up the hard work!
Anonymous asked: I know that you don't give names ect but do you not feel that you are still impeding on nurse-client confidentiality by putting some of this stuff up on the internet for anyone to see?!?!?!

Clinical Day: 5
Today was probably my favorite day so far. We were assigned patients last night and we picked up our patient information. I did a Care Plan with the diagnosis being Fall Risk. I was up until 1ish last night finishing it all up and this morning I was in the hospital by 6:45. I immediately went to go check on my patient and asses her vital signs. She was a very lovely elderly woman with dementia....
inhale-exhale-just-breathe asked: oh god its comforting to know someone out there is suffering with nursing just like me. and by suffering i mean loving the whole career but dying with the amount of work x)
Anonymous asked: What made you decide to become a nurse? :]

Clinical Day: 4
Yesterday was my very first day taking care of a single patient by myself. (Well without my instructor or other nursing students with me). It was so exciting. Sunday afternoon I went to the hospital with a few friends and we picked up our patient information sheet, wrote down charting info and left. While the Superbowl was on, I made my drug cards, wrote up my care plan and got an article for my...

Home for the weekend and practicing Physicals on...
My brothers put up a fight at first but I think they began to realize that its going to happen no matter what. In lab this morning we learned how to asses the ears nose mouth and eyes so I only practiced those skills. It was actually very easy on my 1 brother and my Dad. I was able to use the ophthalmoscope and asses the optic nerve, the veins/arteries and the fovea. They were clear, easy to move...

gaymergeek asked: You are fantastic just saying I'm on an entry to nursing but I expect to do a 2nd year before I apply to a university here in Scotland. But oh my God you are right we have no life and Care plans are DIRE! But the rest of it is so rewarding and worth it. =)
