Anonymous asked: What made you decide to become a nurse? :]

When I was kid, I loved going to the Doctors office. I loved getting shots, I loved the stethoscopes they used, and all the little devices. I had no clue what they were doing but I just felt so curious about all of it and I wanted to know how to do it. At first I thought the person assessing me and completing my physical exams was a Doctor but it turns out everyone that worked at my Pediatricians office were Nurse Practitioners! That really influenced my choice because I really did want to work with kids. I wanted to do physicals, write them prescriptions when they were sick, do small lab tests ect. I always thought that only Doctors could do that and my family couldn’t afford to send me to Med School so when I found out that it was all NP’s doing all that work, I decided that nursing was the right choice for me. And if really has been.

I’m only on my 4th semester, but I love it. I always thought I would never be able to handle adults but I love the patients I work with. They are all so kind and genuinely happy that you are there to take care of them.

As of right now I’m still sticking with my plan to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner but who knows how much Clinicals will influence me later on. :)
